East Lancs Railway Reviews

Had a really comfy ride on the East Lancs Railway last weekend, and the seats were way softer than I expected for an old train. Makes you wonder what modern trains are hiding, because if this lovely old thing can give me decent legroom, why can’t the shiny new ones?
We stayed on for the full trip and I didn’t feel squashed or stiff at all, which felt almost too good to be true. Nice little day out all round, and I’d happily go again, assuming they haven’t been keeping the best seats secret from us this whole time...

Tickets felt fair, and the kids, like, enjoyed it loads. Overall, it was a really nice experience for the family.

I had a nice day at East Lancs Railway overall. The trains were great to see and I just assumed the staff knew exactly what they were doing because they all seemed friendly and relaxed. The only thing that threw me off was the crowd control. I thought the queues would be obvious, but they got a bit messy and it wasn’t always clear where we were supposed to stand. Some of the platforms felt really packed too. Still glad I went, but when it’s busy they could definitely do with a bit more organisation

I think we felt safe the whole time we were there. The staff seemed to be around whenever we needed them, and they were helpful. The trains felt secure too, so we didn’t really have any concerns with the kids, at least from what I remember.

We had to cancel our tickets for the East Lancs Railway, and I was expecting the whole refund process to be a bit of a headache, but it really was not.

They got back to us quickly, explained what would happen, and the refund arrived when they said it would. No chasing, no confusing back and forth. It was a shame we could not make it, but they handled everything really well

The toilets were rough and there wasn’t much seating around either. Not the worst place ever, but it defintely could use some improvements.

We had a good time overall, and the kids absolutely loved it. It was crowded though, like they maybe let a few too many people in, so getting around wasn’t always easy. Still, the kids were happy, so it was worth it.

The volunteers were nice enough, but I kind of felt like I was being passed around from one person to another without anyone really knowing what to do next. Everyone was polite, but the whole experience felt a bit disorganized...

We had an okay time as a family, but I’ll be honest, I was a bit worried it might turn out to be one of those places that sounds better than it is. It wasn’t bad, and there were some fun parts, but it did feel a bit long, especially for the kids. They started getting bored after a while, so I’m not sure I’d rush back unless I knew exactly what to expect.

Getting there without a car was exhausting. The buses didn’t line up well, and the station connections felt really poor. After a while, I was just tired of trying to figure it all out...

We took the kids on one of the themed journeys and overall it was a nice day. The train itself was really lovely, and the staff we spoke to were friendly. The themed parts were fun enough too, especially for the children. That said, I’m only giving it 3 stars because it felt crowded, and the boarding process seemed a bit disorganised. Maybe it was just the day we went, but it felt like it could have been handled better. Also, once you add tickets and any extras, the cost climbs quite quickly. We did enjoy it, so I don’t want to sound too negative, but for the money I think I expected a little more. Maybe others had a smoother experience, but that was how it felt for us

I really didn’t have a good experience here. My food came out cold, and the coffee tasted weak to me. Maybe others have had better luck, but I personally wouldn’t bother going back.

We had a nice visit overall, but was it just me or was the parking kind of confusing? We ended up circling around for a while and finally parked farther away than we expected. A few clearer signs would make a big difference

I took my dad along in his wheelchair it was all really easy. The staff helped with the ramps straight away, the accessible toilet was nearby, and we never felt like we were in the way or being stared at. For anyone else bringing someone in a wheelchair, I’d say it’s a really comfortable place to visit. We had a lovely day out...

I booked because I thought it was dog friendly, but I kept wondering if I’d misunderstood something. It felt a bit awkward from the start, and the staff didn’t seem totally sure what the rules were either. We were moved around a couple of times, which just made the whole thing feel more stressful than it needed to be. Maybe it was just an off day, but I don’t think I’d bother bringing my dog again

I ended up spending more time in the museum bits than I expected. The exhibits were really interesting, there was loads to look at, and everything felt well looked after. It was one of those places where you keep thinking you’ll just have a quick browse, then suddenly you’re still wandering around ages later.

I had a good time and the ride itself was really nice, but it felt a little too short. It’s one of those experiences that could be a hit if you’re just looking for something quick and fun, but maybe a miss if you’re expecting a longer journey.

Was gutted with how grim the carriage was. The seats had crumbs everywhere and some sticky crap on them, and the windows looked like they hadn’t seen a cloth in months. For what I paid, I don’t think expecting a basically clean seat is asking much. Proper nasty ride, not gonna lie.

I saw the train and immediately thought, yep, I’m doing this. The ride was really lovely, with great views the whole way, and the place has that old railway charm that makes it feel like you’ve stepped back in time for a bit. The staff were friendly too, which made it even better. I’d definitely go again.

My first impression was really good because the train turned up bang on time, and that set the tone for the whole trip. Same on the way back too, with no fuss or messing about. It made for an easy day out and felt really reliable. I’d definitely use it again.
